Green Design Inspiration

Last year, The Final Touch was among an incredible cast of designers selected to be a part of St. Louis Homes & LifestylesLiving Green Showhouse on the picturesque grounds of Tapawingo Golf Course.

The Final Touch was charged with the design of the front vestibule–creating the first impression of the home. What piece in particular inspired us to design ‘green’?

A stone rug. We chose Island Stone for the vestibule because it has a unique appearance and is a natural “raw material.” Because Island Stone owns its own factories, it maintains a high-quality finished product that beautifies and enhances any living environment.

The Final Touch among St. Louis-Area Distinguished Award Winners

Looking for the finest examples of building, architecture and design in the metro St. Louis area? Look no further than St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles‘ March 2010 issue, which devotes an entire section of the magazine to “Distinguished Award Winners: 2010 Homes of the Year.”

The Final Touch was thrilled to be awarded the Platinum Award for a loft/condo in the $1 million-plus category.

Here’s what the magazine had to say about our space, for which we collaborated with Jane Crawford, developer, JAG, Inc., and Mike Schneider, architect, Quadrant Design, Inc.:

“Set in a building dating back to the early 1900s, this luxury loft residence blends city-chic style with traditional touches to match its charming small-town atmosphere. Its fabulous features include hardwood flooring, granite countertops, a laundry room and a cutting-edge kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances. Exposed pipes and large windows give the space its urban edge, while a unique, warm color palette lends an inviting feel and enhances the loft’s dynamic design. Architectural details – such as 5-inch floorboards and trim and decorative  wall niches – add to the sophisticated setting, as do thoughtful touches in décor, including custom-created Hunter Douglas window treatments.”
