Within the last decade, lofts have popped up in most urban or downtown areas.  Renovated factories, warehouse or other commercial structures are appealing to those who love open spaces and industrial details.

Read below for some simple tips on how to make the most of your loft.

The Magic of Mirrors

A well-established trick for making your loft appear larger is adding mirrors.  A well placed mirror can give the impression of space and increase the amount of natural light in a room.

Behind the Curtain

Curtains are an excellent way to separate a large room into smaller areas.  They can also give the room a dramatic feel and create depth.

Choosing your Colors

Using natural colors like white, cream, brown or taupe will play nicely with a loft’s exposed elements.  Some tend to paint the ceilings a darker color to make the ceiling appear lower.  Whatever color you choose for the walls, make sure you carry the theme throughout to make the room cohesive.  One can experiment with color on the floors with a decorative patterned rug or by painting accent walls a bold color.
