Tips on Measuring Your Window

Proper draping of your window is very important.  Below Hunter Douglas shares with us the best way to measure your window.

“Measure each window thoroughly.  This includes horizontal measurements at the top, center and bottom and vertical measurements along both sides and at the center.  Then take the additional and important step of measuring diagonally, too.  Combined, these measurements will reveal whether or not your window is square.

If a window isn’t square, consider an ‘outside mount,’ installing the treatment above the opening.

If the treatment telescopes to one side as it is raised, the window may not be level.  Many shades have an adjustable bottom rail weight.  It can be moved to compensate the window frame and prevent telescoping.”

Find a Farmers’ Market in your Community

It’s not surprising that farmers’ markets are on the rise in most communities, currently there are nearly 4,800 throughout the country.  The US Department of Agriculture states that, “Farmers markets allow consumers to have access to locally grown, farm fresh produce, enables farmers the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with their customers, and cultivate consumer loyalty with the farmers who grows the produce. ”

One of my favorite things to buy at my local farmers’ market it cut flowers.  There is nothing like displaying beautiful fresh flowers throughout the house to add an instant burst of color.
